Yes, mucus is gross but it is also very important to your health. However, in some cases, our bodies produce an excess amount and that is something that needs to be cleared up.
Mucus is something that helps prevents the body from being infected with germs, bacteria, and things of the sort. If something that should not be in our body enters with the intent of making us sick our mucus traps it and attempts to prevent it from entering our bodies. Mucus is known to get thicker and stickier when you’re sick which is why when we are ill we tend to blow our noses and do gross things much more.
Now while mucus is beneficial some people do produce more than others. If you want to minimize the amount of mucus your body produces then these are the foods you should avoid. That is because some foods can cause you to produce more mucus.
- Refined Sugar
- Dairy products mainly milk
- Red meat with a high-fat content
These can speed up the production of mucus because they are known to activate the gustatory rhinitis. Now if you give these foods up and still for some reason cannot get rid of your excess mucus then this juice is something that will without a doubt do the trick.

- 1 green apple
- 1 inch of ginger root
- Juice these things together and then drink.
