It stated that female college students reported their levels of daily stress and sexual activity during several months before a test. Guess what else? The women who experienced more stress were also having less sex.

Physical intimacy is extremely important in a relationship. When you and your partner are able to bond on a physical level it allows you to know each other on another level. It is additionally healthy because it increases a person’s emotional health to have that sort of connection with someone else. If you and your partner have abstained from sex it can lead to less relationship satisfaction. In fact, The Journal of Family Psychology study also showed that women who reported less sex reported less relationship gratification.

When you aren’t having any sex it can cause you to feel bad about yourself. Depriving yourself of sex can cause your self-esteem to drop dramatically. Having sex also boosts your confidence levels!

This is for you men; if you aren’t having sex then you are more likely to experience erectile dysfunction. A study published in the American Journal of Medicine in 2008 showed that men who reported having sexual intercourse once per week were half as likely to experience erectile dysfunction when compared with men who had less frequent sex.

There are also female specific issues too. If you’re depriving yourself of your womanly needs you will have a less toned vagina. Regular sex promotes vaginal health and without it, your vagina can become dry and less elastic.

Having sex increases your heart health. Without it, well you’re not going to acquire those benefits. For example, one study published in the American Journal of Cardiology in 2010, linked low sex frequency with an increased likelihood of cardiovascular disease.

Last but certainly not least, you will experience more colds and sickness if you stop doing the dirty. When you stop having sex your immune system health also decreases. Not having sex can result in more colds, flu, and sickness in general.
