We often think about our health and ways to improve it but for some reason overlook the most common things. If you do these things then you should stop, they are bad for you!
I am a hypocrite when it comes to a few of these because I cannot help myself sometimes. We all know that we should eat right and workout but when it comes to the small things we tend to cheat ourselves. These small things amount to something big. These things could be making you unhealthy.
I oversleep more than I should. Of course, you should get the proper amount of sleep no less than six hours and no more than ten hours. Anything less or more than that has been linked with several dangerous chronic diseases like heart disease, obesity, and diabetes! Hitting that snooze button is actually stressing your body out!
Netflix Marathons
Sure, this may feel great but watching more than three episodes of something after being at work all day puts your health at risk. Based on a study done by the Archives of Internal Medicine adults who sat for more than 11 hours each day had a 40 percent increased risk of dying within three years when compared to those who sat for less than 4 hours a day.
Spending Too Much Time Inside
If you spend all your time inside you are depleting your bodies vitamin D supply. This will leave you feeling more tired, cause aches and mild pain, as well as leave you feeling depressed.
Not Drinking The Right Amount Of Water
Water hydrates your body. While we remember to try and eat healthy things we often forget that we need to drink water. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day. Your body will thank you.
Late Night Snacking
We should not be snacking late at night. This disrupts our sleep and makes us gain weight. Midnight snacks have been found to impair the hippocampus which is the part of our brain that forms our memories.
Smoking
No matter how bad we know it is we still for some reason cannot bring ourselves to quit. (Some of us) This is a real issue that needs to be addressed. We should not be smoking. Cigarettes are something I could go on about all day but is also something that goes without saying. If you want to be healthy then you need to put the pack of cigarettes down and stop for good.
Drinking Too Much Alcohol
A small amount of alcohol is no issue but drinking in excess is linked to a severely high risk of things like high blood pressure, high levels of blood fats, and even in some cases heart failure. If you are a drinker try to stick to no more than one or two drinks a day.
You can overeat healthy foods as well as unhealthy foods. Cutting your portion sizes down to what is considered appropriate for your body size is very important. Also, try to not eat quickly the slower you eat the more full you will be as your body will have more time to process what is going into it.
