Their first ingredient is spuds, but does that make up for the rest? No!
Nineteen ingredients make up what we know as McDonald’s french fries, some of which are quite disturbing, to say the least. McDonald’s french fries contain something known as Dimethylpolysiloxane, this is a form of silicone found most commonly in silly putty. Now, if that wasn’t enough to make you never want another McDonald’s fry the next ingredient may take the cake. Tertiary Butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), a petrol-based chemical. These are things that should be avoided. Dimethylpolysiloxane is used for many different things and food should not be one of them.
Along with silly putty, you can find this ingredient in things like:
- Silicone caulks
- Adhesives
- Aquarium sealant
- Silicone grease
- Silicone-based lubricants
- Defoaming agents
- Mold release agents
- Polishes
- Cosmetics
- Hair conditioners
It is used in all of these things and yet it is still allowed in our food? There have also not been any major studies on the safety of this when it comes to being used in food by the FDA. It has been in use since 1998 and still has yet to be assessed.
Now as mentioned above this one makes things even worse. TBHQ is found in everything from perfumes to bio-diesel! There is nothing safe about McDonald’s french fries, or anything else they serve for that matter. For more information on this please take the time to watch the video below.
